Peripheral Nerve Stimulation: A New Tool In The Battle Against Chronic Pain

At Regenirex we strive to offer the most advanced pain treatment options to our patients.  I am happy to report that we are the first pain practice in the state of Nebraska to offer StimRouter peripheral nerve stimulation to our patients.  In July of this year I performed the first StimRouter implant in Nebraska.

Nerve injury is a common cause of chronic pain.  Whether caused by trauma, such as a motor vehicle accident that results in damage to the brachial plexus or a chronic disease such as diabetes causing peripheral neuropathy in the hands and feet.  If the pain can be temporarily stopped by a nerve “block” it is very likely that permanent relief can be obtained from nerve stimulation.  StimRouter is an implantable device that allows minimally invasive nerve stimulation.  The device consists of a small, silicone “lead” which is implanted underneath the skin in contact with the targeted nerve.  An external device is placed on the skin for periods of up to 4 hours per day.  The signal to the nerve builds up a “wall” to pain transmission and effectively blocks the pain signals from the nerve.

The StimRouter procedure is a simple, safe and quick outpatient procedure.  Our results with this technology have been good and we are excited to offer this therapy to our patients.  Please feel free to contact our clinic to set up an appointment to discuss this therapy in person, or email me a bjmckeag@regenirex.org with questions about your pain.
